Foodie Tour Guide
What tours do you host?
Besides food, what are some of your other passions?
I have itchy feet that have taken me to over 20 countries around the world including England, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Portugal, Morocco, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mexico, and the USA. I’ve also lived and taught ESL in South Korea and Japan.
If you could be one food, what food would you be?
I would be a spicy kimchijjigae, or kimchi soup, the Fall comfort food of South Korea. Although, I loved the melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi in Cortona, Italy, and the fresh papaya salad made by the roadside food vendors in Northern Thailand!
What are some of your guilty food pleasures in Vancouver?
I have no willpower when it comes to the Butter Chicken Naan Kebab at Soho Road…and my Mom’s Austrian fruit dumplings.
Why do you love hosting Vancouver Foodie Tours?
In my travels, I’m always been moved by the incredible warmth and hospitality of people wherever I go. There was a Thai family I met spontaneously that invited me to stay in their home when they learned I had nowhere to stay. There was a Japanese family that met me wandering in the countryside and hosted me for a night in Kyoto. For me, hosting Foodie Tours is a way of giving back some of the love I have received.
When you’re not hosting a Vancouver Foodie Tour, where can we find you?
Being a foodie nerd, I love to ‘research’ (aka. find any excuse to visit and eat my way through) the newest local restaurants and fun events happening in the city and share them with my guests. You can find me eating at Vancouver’s many colourful festivals with my son, all summer long!
