Our Give-Back Initiatives

At Vancouver Foodie Tours, we believe food has the power to bring people together and strengthen communities. Because sharing food is at the heart of what we do, we feel a responsibility to give back both locally and beyond. Through our partnerships with organizations creating meaningful change in Vancouver and around the world, we’re proud to support two initiatives that help people build brighter, healthier, and more secure futures.

DISCOVER Employ to Empower

Employ to Empower is a non-profit organization rooted in positivity, respect, and empowerment. Based in Vancouver, they serve the residents of the Downtown Eastside, an area often associated with homelessness, drug use, and poverty. However, it’s also an area rich with resilience, creativity, and untapped potential.

Employ to Empower believes in providing long-term solutions to these societal challenges rather than quick fixes. Their approach involves supporting residents of the DTES with entrepreneurship, personal development resources, and mentorship opportunities that promote self-reliance and sustainability.

Their programs include an Entrepreneurship Program, which provides access to business resources and support for budding entrepreneurs, and a Personal Development Program that offers courses on topics like mental health, financial literacy, and leadership.

The goal? To empower individuals to become self-sufficient, contributing members of society. To help people not just survive, but thrive.

Your Impact: Contributing to Change

When you give back to Employ to Empower through Vancouver Foodie Tours, you’re not just giving money. You’re investing in the future of the DTES and its residents. You’re helping to break the cycle of poverty and create a more inclusive, equitable society.

Every dollar donated goes directly towards funding the essential programs offered by Employ to Empower. Your contribution could support a resident’s new business venture, fund a personal development course, or provide a mentorship opportunity.

Your impact doesn’t stop there. By supporting these individuals, you’re also contributing to the overall health and vitality of the DTES community. As residents become more self-sufficient, they can give back to their community, creating a positive cycle of growth and development.

Discover Plan International Canada

Plan International Canada is a global champion for children’s rights and gender equality. They tackle the root causes of injustice, and right now, one of the most pressing issues is the global food crisis. In regions experiencing extreme poverty or disaster, a heartbreaking reality exists: women and girls are often the ones who eat least and eat last.

The “Help End Global Hunger” initiative focuses on creating lasting food security alongside urgent relief. This means delivering life-saving emergency food baskets to families in immediate need, while also equipping them with climate-resilient seeds and agricultural training.

Their ultimate mission is to build self-sustaining communities where every child has the nourishment they need to grow, learn, and lead.

How You Are Making A Difference

Choosing to explore Vancouver’s culinary scene with us means you are directly funding life-changing resources. By supporting this campaign, you are actively dismantling barriers for girls and their families, ensuring they have the fuel to thrive.

Throughout March and October, we’re pledging a portion of our revenue to the Help End Global Hunger fund. Help us raise $2,500 and our donation will be matched 7x to unlock a total donation of $20,000!

The ripple effects of your contribution are profound. When a family has consistent access to nutritious food, girls can stay in school, parents can build businesses, and villages experience renewed health and stability.

Stand With Us Against Hunger

As a female-led business, we deeply resonate with Plan International Canada’s focus on empowering girls. We believe that access to safe, sufficient food is a fundamental human right, and our team is incredibly motivated to extend our local hospitality to a global scale.

We would love for you to be part of this journey. Booking a tasting experience during our campaign months or making a direct donation to Plan Canada helps build a brighter, more equitable future.

Let us use the joy of food to create meaningful change. Together, we can help nourish the world.
