Heading to Whistler for all the outdoors fun but don’t want to break the bank? We’ve got your back and rounded up the Top 13 Whistler Cheap Eats!

1. Stonesedge

For a delicious and reasonably priced breakfast, Stonesedge is number 1. Eggs bennies are available until 3pm, average about $13 and mimosas are always a welcome addition. If the purse strings will allow, add a side of the creamy mushrooms. The words ‘creamy’ and ‘mushrooms’ should be enough explanation!

2. Purebread

No Whistler eatery run-down would be complete without Purebread. A classic bakery with a cult following in Vancouver too, Purebread’s home is Whistler. Offering freshly baked loaves, buttery croissants, savoury scones, fresh sandwiches, pies and literally every sweet treat imaginable – Purebread is the perfect pitstop, any time of day.

3. Portobello

Tucked away in the Farimont Chateau Whistler, this bakery is a hidden gem. From made-to-order sandwiches to coffee and pastries, Portobello is a great lunch time stop. Grab a cup of coffee and a signature maple bacon donut (does it get more Canadian?) and kick back after a day shredding Blackcomb mountain.

4. Garbo’s

What may look like just a small little take-away joint actually serves Whistler’s best burger. Fact! Situated at the base of the Whistler village gondola and hidden amongst the crowds lies Whistler’s best kept secret. 5. Ingrid’s

A tiny deli-style cafe offering quick bites for breakfast or lunch; Ingrid’s is beloved by locals. With fresh ingredients, a mouth-watering sandwich list, salads, soups and plenty of gluten free/vegan options, it’s easy to see why some locals call into Ingrid’s everyday. The friendly staff will help create your perfect sandwich and when in doubt, the BLATCH is always a winner.

6. El Furniture Warehouse

The quintessential Whistler Cheap Eats – El Furny literally offers an all-day $4.95 menu. Serving pub classics like burgers, soups, salads and nachos plus plenty of optional upgrades. El Furny is a great spot for a cheap lunch, a few beers and a fun hang out with friends. And at such low prices, you’d be crazy not to treat yourself to the mini donuts drizzled in caramel sauce …

7. La Cantina

La Cantina is the laid-back younger sister of the popular Mexican Corner restaurant. Specializing in tacos and burritos served at a reasonable price, La Cantina is great for a quick bite or to settle in for the evening. The atmosphere is fun, the tacos delicious; it’s easy to lose track of time … and beers!

8. Southside Diner

From burgers, sandwiches, baked mac ’n’ cheese to meatloaf, Southside Diner has all of your comfort food cravings covered. Offering generous portions, a classic diner feel and fun “house rules” – Southside is excellent value, tasty and filling. Especially after one too many ski shots the night before!

9. Pasta Lupino

Pasta Lupino serves hearty Italian meals to warm you after a day on the slopes. Fresh pastas, breads and sauces make Pasta Lupino great value for delicious meals with generous portions. The small and cosy restaurant can sometimes have a little wait for tables but the Chicken Parmigiana alone is worth it. After a day of all the Whistler activities, welcome to carb heaven!

10. Cinnamon Bear Bar

For après beers and decent pub fare, Cinnamon Bear is a Whistler classic. The crowd-pleasing menu offers wings, sliders, poutine and pizzas; the comfort food you need after a killer day up the mountain. With pool, pitchers and cheap eats aplenty, Cinnamon Bear is always popular.

11. Creekbread

Using local, organic ingredients, Creekbread serve Whistler’s best pizzas straight out of their wood burning oven. They’ve got gluten free and vegan options and also support local organizations through their Tuesday benefit nights. Tasty and ethical? Yes please! Creekbread are a firm favourite in the Whistler community and if you try a slice of the creamy and dreamy Pemberton Potato Pie, you’ll quickly see why!

12. Sachi Sushi

A little higher up the scale but Whistler’s best sushi is worth it. Sit at the bar and you may be in the company of head chef Toshiyuki Kobayashi or his son, Sachi himself! With a friendly atmosphere, helpful staff and so many delicious rolls to choose from, don’t be surprised when the big boat of sushi arrives at your table! After a round of Sake, you may just find room for a little more.

13. Bar Oso

Rounding off our list of ‘Cheap Eats’ is Bar Oso, providing a menu of small plates, tapas and charcuterie. Not really in the ‘cheap eats’ category but for drinks and dessert at the end of the night, Bar Oso is worth a mention!
