Cherry Blossoms

Finding the best places to photograph cherry blossoms is a fun thing to do in Vancouver. The flurry of pink that takes over the city is a tourist attraction in itself; it’s no surprise that people travel from all over the world to enjoy the spectacle.

We were all pleasantly surprised to see the cherry blossoms bloom so early this year – the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival is actually at the beginning of April. Because cherry blossoms have a relatively short blooming season (and can be damaged by rain) the “hunt for the perfect pink” is on!

After many seasons of taking cherry blossom photos in passing, I finally decided this year that I would dedicate some time to capture their full beauty. Last week, I joined Vancouver Photowalks for a Cherry Blossom Walk in the West End. Our guide, Ekaterina, lead us to some of the best places to find cherry blossoms in the city and gave us great tips on composition and camera settings. It was an inspiring, educational experience that left me with some breathtaking photography to cherish. To read up on my experience (and to see more blossom shots), click here!
