As hosts of the World’s Best Food Truck Tour, we keep a keen eye on (and a healthy appetite for) Vancouver’s best street eats. Over the years, it’s been our pleasure to taste our way through the refined, multicultural food scene that has emerged from a category once dominated by hotdogs and smokies. Any local will tell you – the city’s best fish tacos come out of a food truck (See: Tacofino) and you’ll find Vancouver’s freshest naan bread at a little black trailer called by Soho Road Naan Kebab. From classic grilled cheese sandwiches to smoked salmon salads, the food trucks in Vancouver have just as much variety as the gourmet restaurants around town.
Last week, the Vancouver Foodie Tours Chairwoman, Michelle, caught wind of a new food truck called The Pressure Box on W Georgia and Burrard. When we heard the headlining item, “buttermilk fried chicken,” it took just a matter of days for the VFT Foodies to beeline for the truck. We ate and we pondered, and we had to know more. It was the juiciest and most tender fried chicken that we’d ever had.

Quick facts about The Pressure Box
- Location: Burrard and W Georgia (NW Corner)
- Hours: M-Th, Lunch hour, Fridays at the Shipyards Night Market
- Every item on the menu has a sous vide component (the entire patty in their Double Smoked Cheddar Braised Burger is sous vide!)
- A featured fresh item is on their daily special – we loved the Heirloom Tomato Salad that we had, topped with fresh pea shoots (a tray is growing on the truck) and crunchy radishes
Happy feasting!
