Among the ranks are coveted food destinations like Venice, Saigon, and Tel Aviv.

In an age led by social media and Anthony Bourdain, travelers now crave a level of authenticity unknown to “tourists.” Exploration is the new norm, and food is the coveted key to connecting with culture, learning history, and feeling like a local.

This, at least, is the understanding that fuels one of the top food tour companies in the world. Since its inception in 2010, Vancouver Foodie Tours has hosted 20,000 guests on their walking food tours.

“For us, work is play. Our team is one that loves Vancouver and its food, so sharing it with others – friends, family, or guests – is second nature to us. We’re travel bugs who live to eat, so we’re very passionate about what we do.”
– Founder, Michelle Ng

The company offers four walking food tours in iconic Vancouver neighbourhoods, each highlighting the multicultural flavours of the city: the Gastronomic Gastown Tour, Best of Downtown TourGranville Island Market Tour, and World’s Best Food Truck Tour.

“The food is fantastic. But whether you’re a foodie or not, guests say it’s the stories about Vancouver and our local tour guides that make the experience unforgettable.”

Vancouver is renowned for fresh seafood and multicultural flare; Ng and her team of 12 Foodies have hand-picked local restaurants and food shops that illuminate the city’s diversity. Tour stops include award-winning Chinese dim sum, Vancouver’s best upscale seafood, Canadian charcuterie, Japanese hot dogs, and so much more.

“It’s a pleasure for us to connect the world with Vancouver’s multicultural food scene and to have our guests fall in love with Vancouver, just as we have.”

This accolade from Forbes is hardly the first for Ng and her team, as they’ve received notoriety from Lonely Planet, Virgin Atlantic, The Globe and Mail, and rank as Vancouver’s #1 Tour on TripAdvisor. Yet, Ng notes that this acclaim from Forbes is particularly special.

“It’s incredible to have a prestigious brand like Forbes point to Vancouver Foodie Tours as one the Best Food Tours in the World.”

“It’s a milestone for our team, but we see this as an achievement for our entire community – of artisans, local restaurants, and tourism partners – that support us every day. We are so proud to put Vancouver’s multicultural culinary scene on the international stage.”

With the peak of tourist season just around the corner, the Foodie Tours are planning for a busy summer ahead.

For the summer of 2018, Vancouver Foodie Tours will have daily departures of two food tours – the Gastronomic Gastown Tour and the Granville Island Market Tour. They plan to celebrate all summer long with contests and local collaborations. Vancouver Foodie Tours’ Marketing Manager, Joyce Chua, notes:

“It’s our 8th anniversary and our 3rd consecutive year as Vancouver’s #1 Rated Tour on TripAdvisor. More than ever, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate with the city and honour the people who make Vancouver’s culinary scene shine.”
