The Post-Halloween Cleanse

 |  By

Twas the day after Halloween and all across the floor,
Candy wrappers of every kind – chocolates, caramels and more,
As the morning unfolds, tummies are sore from all the sweets,
It’s savoury and greenery that foodies now want to eat,
For days like these when foodies need a “cleanse”
Here’s a few of our best recommendations – from your Vancouver Foodie Tours friends!

The Best Fresh Eats in Vancouver

Restaurant: Tractor
Neighbourhood: Kitsilano and Downtown Vancouver
Recommendations: With fresh salads “by the scoop,” and housemade stews, sandwiches and lemonades, Tractor is a great gourmet way to reset your diet with greens and goodness!

Restaurant: Chambar
Neighbourhood: Downtown Vancouver

Recommendations: Weekend brunch is best known for indulgent items like eggs benedict, french toast, sausages and waffles. Although Chambar’s gourmet menu can satisfy all of these cravings, we absolutely love the Fruit and Granola Yogurt Parfait as a refreshing morning option!

Restaurant: Nuba
Neighbourhood: Kitsilano and Gastown
Recommendations: Featured on Food Network’s “You’ve Gotta Eat Here,” Nuba is best known for their gourmet platters of healthful delights. We love the crispy cauliflower served with hummus, salad, pickled cabbage, olives, pita and choice of organic brown rice or roasted potatoes.

Restaurant: Heirloom Vegetarian
Neighbourhood: South Granville

Recommendations:  We love Heirloom Vegetarian for their creative menu that’s centred around healthy, local, fair-trade food. After hosting our Granville Island Market Tour, we stroll down South Granville to have some of the city’s best “beet steak” and breakfast hash. For a quick awakening, pair your meal with a Kale Refresher – a blend of kale, green apple, pineapple, mint, and sparkling water!

Restaurant/Food Truck: The Juice Truck
Neighbourhood: Main St/Olympic Village and a Food Truck (Gastown)
Recommendations: Vancouver’s original cold-pressed juice creators know what it means to “cleanse.” Best known for their pure cold-pressed juices, they also offer a selection of smoothies and healthy food options. You can get their beverages one by one, or invest in 3-day or 7-day cleanses!
