Have you ever posted a food photo? A picture of you and your friends gathered around a meal?
Yeah, we’ve probably posted a few, too.
When you take a moment to think about it, the way we communicate has severely changed in recent years. Each and every day, millions of people post, share, and comment through social media, and suddenly, this massive digital community emerges around global events, international issues, and common interests.
This sense of “globalism” is especially prevalent in relation to foodies. I’m fascinated by the breadth of food photos from places near and far – I am guaranteed to learn something new every day. Everyone loves grilled cheese sandwiches. Cute packaging always prevails. Macarons in the shape of Hello Kitty are just as adorable in Melbourne as they are in Tokyo (and I recently discovered a local business on Instagram that makes them here in Vancouver – see below!) We like our lattes to be photogenic, and our poached eggs to ooze just right.
This week’s blog post is inspired by the “foodies worldwide” who have blown our minds and teased our tastebuds on Instagram. We’ll start with #dessert, but we promise we’ll be back with more:
