Coming Soon to the Granville Island Public Market

FullSizeRender (5)

It’s not every day a new shop finds it’s way into the Granville Island Public Market. In fact, many of the stalls in the Public Market have been there since it opened in 1979. This collection of family businesses and local artisans have shaped the bright and friendly community of the Public Market. As hosts of the Granville Island Market Tour, the Vancouver Foodie Tours team is in the Market every day of the week. So, we’ve been eyeballing the vacant space beside Granville Island Tea Company (previously South China Seas), wondering what new gourmet cuisine would soon come to call the Public Market home.

We’ve got great news, Foodies! Great news for two tasty reasons!

We’re excited to welcome Bon Macaron Patisserie to the Granville Island Public Market, early this Fall! They’re a boutique macaron shop that was started in Victoria by two passionate French bakers, David and Yann. Foodies in Vancouver have seen macarons pop up in many cafes and bakeries around the city, but none quite like this. Bon Macaron has wild flavours like White Chocolate Wasabi, Lavender Chocolate, and Tiramisu. There are even savoury options like Pear and Blue Cheese or Bacon! When Bon Macaron opens at the Public Market, they will feature exclusive Granville Island flavours, using ingredients from other Public Market vendors!

The Granville Island shop isn’t quite ready yet – but jumping the gun on tasting these macarons is something all foodies in Vancouver can do! Last week, Bon Macaron opened a retail store on West Broadway and Macdonald in Vancouver and it is the perfect gourmet addition to the busy neighbourhood! It’s just steps away from major bus stops like the 22 and 99 B-Line, making it a dangerously easy place to visit…In a recent, record-setting macaron feast, we could not believe how wonderfully addicting and devilishly tasty such strange combinations could be!

We haven’t eaten our way through the whole menu quite yet, but here are some of our favourite flavours!

  • Pear and Blue Cheese (pictured above)
  • Earl Grey
  • Limoncello
  • White Chocolate Wasabi – the touch of wasabi hits you right at the end!
  • Lime and Coconut
  • White Truffle and Sea Salt – you’ve got to give it a try!

You can check out Bon Macaron’s full list of flavours here.
